How do I record from N64 to TV to digital recorder without hiss?

I have the model WS-6005 Olympus digital recorder and it works great for everything I do. I tested the N64 gaming console to the TV and to regular headphones and it sounds fine. Now….

When I hook up a stereo cable to the digital recorder from the TV, the music sounds terrible! I tested both Mono and Stereo cables, only to still hear the Hiss. So my conclusion is….it’s the recorder! How do I set the recorder (Olympus WS-6005) to cut out the old school Doom 64 reverberating hiss that is prominent? When I unplug the headphones and the cable, I notice the TV does create a loud buzz. I’m trying to record this smoothly.
